The Darlington Library Announces Summer Program for Children
Beginning June 11th

The Darlington Public Library is sponsoring three programs for children this summer, all beginning on June 11th.

During the week of June 11-15, each day from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m, there will be story time and field trips in town. For the first half hour, library helpers will read stories to youngsters, and then during the second half hour the youngsters will visit various places in town. Children will meet and interview people in the community, such as a police officer, beautician, veterinarian, and fireman. On the last day there will be a special visitor and refreshments. This program is for children ages 5 through 11.

From June 11 through July 31, the library is sponsoring a poetry and writing contest for ages 8 through 14. Prizes will be awarded to the winning entrants and their winning entries will be published in the library newsletter.

During the same time period, the library is also sponsoring a poster contest for children ages 7 through 13. The posters will be designed for Old-Fashioned Days, the festival which will be held in September. Prizes will also be awarded to the winning contestants, and the posters will be used to advertise the fall festival!

To sign up and obtain a copy of the contest rules, please stop by the circulation desk, or contact Librarian John Dale at 794-4813.
